WHEN DO WISDOM TOOTH ERUPT?

Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars to erupt in very back of the mouth. These are the last permanent teeth to appear, usually in the late teenage years or in early twenties, although they sometimes appear later. They got this name because they appear so late, much later than the other teeth, at an age where people are presumably “wiser” than as a child.

Most people have four wisdom teeth each in one corner but, it is not uncommon for one or more of these teeth to not develop at all, where both of the scenarios are totally normal.

Some of the common indication your wisdom teeth are about to appear are:

  • Gum irritation and swelling in area behind the second molars.
  • Bleeding and tender gums.
  • Dull pain at back of the jaw which sometimes lingers up towards the ear.
  • Difficulty in opening the mouth.

The pain usually stays for few days and disappears but if it is persistently reoccurring at back of the mouth, we advise you to visit a dentist as this condition suggests that you are dealing with issues related to wisdom teeth.

For this matter, our professional team of dentists at THE DENTAL SPECIALISTS can help determine the exact problem, therefore offer advice and solution dependent on your specific needs.
