Dental implants have become the most trusted and lifetime solution to replace a missing tooth, both from the patient’s and the dentist’s perspective. Dental implant carries many proven evidence of its exceptionally successful journey to date, thereby increasing the likeliness for the patient to choose dental implants over traditional crowns and bridges. The factors affecting the cost of a dental implant is often a key consideration for patients while making a choice. Truth be said, while dental implants are marginally expensive they are a way better treatment procedure and also significantly faster compared to the traditional tooth replacements.
At The Dental Specialists, India we took a bold step to offer a lifetime warranty on the dental implants with the added advantage of immediate loading i.e. permanent crown is fixed over the implant within 48 hours which is possible with TTPHIL All Tilt technique. TTPHIL All Tilt implantation technique was introduced by Dr Venkat Ratna Nag, a leading implantologist and the director @ The Dental Specialists, India.
While the viability and advantages of the treatment are very clear, there are often questions from patients around the cost of dental implants. In this blog, we will explain the different factors affecting the cost of dental implants. We have also provided a guidance table comparing the cost of dental implants in India, against several other countries as this will be particularly helpful for all our International patients to make a decision before they come to India for their dental implants.
Factors Affecting Dental Implant Cost in India
Dental implants are quite expensive when compared to routine teeth replacement methods like removable dentures and crowns and bridges. Though it is relatively expensive it is considered to be the superior as it provides much ease and comfort to the patient compared to traditional methods. Let us discuss those factors that add on to the cost of dental implants, right from consultation to fixing of the crown on the dental implant.
Consultation Cost
The consultation fee is the fundamental charge which one has to pay for the time given by the dentist to diagnose the current discomfort and advise a proper treatment to overcome it. This may vary from INR 200 to INR 800 based on the experience of the dentist who is attending. Here @TDS we offer specialist consultation only @200 INR.
Radiographs, Scans and Blood Investigations as required
The dentist will advise a two-dimensional x-ray compulsorily if a dental implantation procedure is to be done. Sometimes an OPG i.e. full mouth x-ray or a CT scan will also be advised to assess the bone volume. Also, blood investigations like clotting time, bleeding time and blood sugar investigations will be advised if necessary. These also add to the overall cost of dental implants procedure.
Dental Implant Procedure
This is the actual point of concern, where many crucial factors elevate the cost of a dental implant.
The type of Dental Implant
The implant basically consists of a titanium post, abutment and a crown.
- Two piece : titanium post and abutment are separate entities.
- Single piece: titanium post and abutment come as single entity
We at The Dental Specialists, India use two-piece cortical implants in order to get anchorage from the cortical bone which is highly resistant to wear and tear. Two-piece implant systems provide us with a
wide range of angulated abutments in order to fabricate a screw-retained crown. Screw-retained crown
will have an inbuilt access hole which will give easy accessibility to retrieve crown easily in future if
required. But with single piece implants, we can only fabricate a cement-retained crown. If crown has to
be retrieved in future we should only cut through the crown and replace it with new crown again.
Methods of Dental Implant
- Conventional Implant and delayed loading using two-piece crestal implants
- TTPHIL ALLTILT technique and immediate loading using two piece cortical implants
